1.5" Washed Gravel is a naturally rounded gravel from the Shawangunk formation, washed clean and sized to roughly 1.5". The rounded, water-worn stones leave generous void space, so water moves through fast and the material stays loose instead of packing down. It's a drainage stone first, useful anywhere you need flow through wet or poor soil, and it carries an earthy, finished look in landscape settings.

Why It Works
Rounded and washed for high-flow drainage.
The stones are rounded and water-worn, not crushed, so they don’t lock together or pack down the way angular stone does. That keeps the material open, and at the 1.5″ size the void space between stones is large. Water moves through it quickly, which is what you want when the soil is wet, the soil is poor, or the flow is heavy.
It’s washed, so there are no fines or dust to wash into the voids and clog the drainage path over time. That’s why it holds up around foundation footings, in drainage trenches, and as bedding under pipe. The same rounded, clean profile is what gives it a settled, natural look when it’s used on top in a landscape bed.
