Gravel & Pea Stone

2.5″ Washed Egg Rock (Shawangunk )

Also known as: Egg Rock, River Rock, Washed Round Stone, 2.5" Cobblestone

2.5" Washed Egg Rock is a smooth, naturally rounded stone in earthy Shawangunk tones - browns, grays, tans, and the occasional reddish stone. At roughly 2.5" it's a larger, heavier rounded stone meant to be seen, which makes it a good fit for decorative beds, dry creek beds, and drainage swales. It's washed clean, so there's no dust or fines to muddy a bed or cloud runoff.

Applications

Why It Works

Big, rounded, and washed clean.

The rounded, water-worn profile is what gives Egg Rock its look. There are no sharp faces or crushed dust, just smooth stone in natural Hudson Valley tones, so it reads as finished the moment it goes down. The 2.5″ size carries some weight, which helps it stay put in a swale or along a slope where smaller stone would wash out.

Because it’s washed, water moves through it freely with no fines to clog the gaps. That makes it a practical choice for dry creek beds, swale bottoms, and pond edges where you want drainage and a clean look at the same time. It doesn’t compact, so it stays loose and open rather than binding into a hard pack.
