Fill & Base

6” Minus Crushed Gravel

Also known as: 6" Minus, 6" Crusher Run, 6" Minus Bank Run, Pit Run

6" Minus Crushed Gravel is a coarse crushed gravel that runs from 6" stone all the way down to fines, with everything in between. The mix of sizes packs tight under compaction, which makes it a workhorse for deep fill, sub-base, and building up grade before a finish layer goes on. When you need to move volume and have it carry load, this is the material.

Applications

  • Deep Fill & Grading
  • Sub-Base & Compaction
  • Driveway Base
  • Road Base & Repair
  • Construction Entrances
  • Building Pad Build-Up

Why It Works

Big stone and fines that pack down and carry load.

6″ Minus carries a full range of sizes in one pile. The large stone gives the layer structure, and the fines fill the voids between the bigger pieces so the whole mass binds together under a roller or plate. Once it’s compacted in lifts, you get a dense, stable base that holds position and supports load.

That wide gradation is also what makes it economical for deep work. Where a finer crusher run gets expensive when you’re filling a foot or more, 6″ Minus lets you build up volume fast and cheap, then cap it with a smaller stone for the finish layer. It’s the first material down on a lot of driveway and building-pad jobs across the Hudson Valley.
