Screened Sandy Loam – Soil Blend for Lawns & Gardens

Also known as: Screened Loam, Sandy Loam, Garden Soil Blend, Lawn Mix

Screened Sandy Loam is a blend of sand and organic material, screened clean of rocks, clumps, and debris. It's what Hudson Valley homeowners and landscapers order when they need a workable soil base for a new lawn, a garden bed, or a raised planting area. The sand keeps it loose and well-drained. The organic content gives grass seed and new plants something to root into.

Applications

  • Lawn Establishment & Seeding
  • Garden Bed Preparation
  • Raised Bed Filling
  • Topdressing Existing Lawns
  • General Landscaping & Grading

Why It Works

Loose enough to root in, solid enough to hold.

Straight fill or native Hudson Valley clay soil packs hard and drains poorly. Roots struggle to spread and water sits where it shouldn’t. Sandy loam solves both problems. The sand content keeps it loose enough to dig, rake, and plant into by hand. The organic content holds enough moisture and nutrients for new grass and plants to actually take.

Screening is what makes it usable. Pulling out rocks, clay clumps, and debris gives you a consistent material from the first shovel to the last, whether you’re seeding a quarter-acre lawn or filling a single raised bed
