Why It Works

Fine material that compacts into a firm, stable layer.

Stone dust works because of its gradation. The mix of small chips and fine particles fills every void when compacted, leaving no air pockets for pavers or slabs to shift into. It doesn’t wash out the way coarser stone does, and it doesn’t stay loose the way sand can in wet conditions.

That makes it the go-to material for paver installations where a firm, consistent bedding layer is critical. Lay it at the right moisture content, screed it level, and it gives you a surface that holds position through freeze-thaw cycles without heaving or settling unevenly.
