Loam

Also known as: Sandy Loam, Screened Loam, Topsoil

Loam is a screened blend of sand, silt, and organic material that gives you a workable, nutrient-holding soil base. It's the go-to material for lawn establishment, garden beds, and general landscape grading where you need something that drains reasonably well and supports plant growth. If you're starting from bare ground, this is usually where you start.

Applications

  • Lawn establishment
  • Garden beds
  • Landscape grading
  • Top dressing
  • General fill & grading

Why It Works

The soil that actually grows things.

Loam holds moisture without getting waterlogged and drains without drying out too fast. That balance is what makes it useful across a wide range of landscape applications. It’s easy to work with, grades smoothly, and gives grass and plants a root environment they can actually establish in. Where pure fill gives you structure and topsoil gives you organics, loam sits in the middle; workable, consistent, and reliable.
