Fill & Base

RCA

Also known as: Recycled Concrete Aggregate, Crushed Concrete, Recycled Concrete

RCA is recycled concrete aggregate - crushed and screened from reclaimed concrete like old slabs, sidewalks, and roadways, with the rebar and steel pulled out by magnet. It's a compacting base material, sold as a minus product that carries its own dust and fines, so it packs down tight and locks into a firm, stable mass. When you need an economical base under a driveway, a parking area, or a slab, this is the workhorse.

Applications

  • Driveway and Parking Lot Base
  • Road Base and Repair
  • Sub-base and Compaction
  • Construction Entrances
  • Fill and Grading
  • Under-Slab and Paver Base

Why It Works

A compacting base that costs less than virgin stone.

RCA comes graded as a minus product, which means the crushed concrete carries everything from larger pieces down to fine dust. That blend is what lets it compact. The fines fill the gaps between the larger pieces, and once it’s rolled or tamped it binds into a dense, firm base that holds shape under load. The cement dust in the mix gives it a tendency to lock up and stiffen after it’s wet and compacted, more than clean stone does on its own.

That makes it a practical choice for the work that lives under the surface: driveway and parking base, sub-base under slabs and pavers, road base repair, and stabilized construction entrances where you want a firm pad to keep mud off the road. It’s reclaimed material, so it usually comes in under the cost of virgin crushed stone for the same base job.
