Crushed Stone
4″ Minus Crushed Gravel
Also known as: 4" Minus, 4 Inch Minus Gravel, Crusher Run, Crushed Bank Run
4" Minus Crushed Gravel is unscreened crushed material that runs from roughly 4" pieces down through stone and fines. The large stone gives it structure and the fines fill the voids, so it packs tight and stays put under load. It's a heavy base and bulk fill material for driveways, access roads, and building up soft or low ground across the Hudson Valley.
Applications

Why It Works
Big stone and fines that pack into a solid base.
The wide range of sizes is the whole point. The 4″ stone carries the load and the fines work down into the gaps between the larger pieces. When you compact it, the material binds into a dense, hard mass that doesn’t shift, rut, or pump up mud the way clean stone over soft ground will.
That makes it the material to reach for when you’re starting from bare or wet ground and need to build depth before anything finished goes on top. It performs in poor soil and wet conditions, holds heavy equipment and truck traffic, and gives you a stable platform to grade off of. For deep fills, place it in lifts and compact as you go rather than dumping it all in one pass; that’s what locks the fines in and keeps you from getting low spots later.
