Why It Works

Crushed stone and fines that lock into a solid base.

The blend is the whole point. The 1.5″ stone carries the load and the fines work down into the gaps between the larger pieces. When you compact it, the material bonds into a dense, hard mass that doesn’t shift, rut, or pump up mud the way clean stone over soft ground will.

That makes it the material to reach for when you’re starting from bare or wet ground and need to build depth before anything finished goes on top. It performs in poor soil and wet conditions, holds heavy equipment and truck traffic, and gives you a stable platform to grade off of. In deep fills, place it in lifts and compact as you go rather than dumping it all in one pass – that’s what locks the fines in and keeps you from getting low spots later.
