Ice & Road Control
Cargill Clearlane Green Salt
Also known as: ClearLane Enhanced Deicer, Treated Salt, Green Salt, Pre-Treated Rock Salt
Cargill ClearLane is rock salt that's been pre-wet and treated with liquid magnesium chloride, a corrosion inhibitor, and a green coloring agent. The treatment lets it melt ice at lower temperatures than plain rock salt and stick where it lands instead of bouncing off the pavement. It's the deicer for roads, parking lots, and walkways when plain salt isn't cutting it in the cold.

Why It Works
Treated salt that works in the cold and stays put.
Plain rock salt loses most of its bite once the pavement drops below the mid-teens. ClearLane is pre-wet with liquid magnesium chloride and other deicing additives, so it keeps melting at temperatures where untreated salt sits there and does nothing. In a Hudson Valley cold snap, that’s the difference between a clear lot and an icy one.
The pre-wetting also makes the salt grab the pavement instead of scattering. More of what you spread stays on the road and goes to work, so you can run lighter spread rates and still get the result. The green color is just there so you can see where you’ve already treated. The treatment keeps the product free-flowing too, so it resists the clumping and crusting that jams spreaders and turns a salt pile into a brick over the summer.
