Sand
Septic Sand
Also known as: Filter Sand, Mound Sand, Leach Field Sand
Septic Sand is a clean, screened sand used as the filtering medium in septic systems - sand filter beds, mound systems, and leach fields. It's graded so effluent moves through at the right rate to be treated before it reaches the soil below. When a system design calls for septic sand, this is the material that does the job.
Applications
- Sand Filter Beds
- Mound Systems
- Leach Field Construction
- Septic Tank Backfill
- Effluent Filtration
Why It Works
Graded to filter, not just to fill.
A septic system lives or dies on how fast water moves through the sand. Too fine and the bed clogs and holds water. Too coarse and the effluent runs through before it’s been treated. Septic Sand is screened to land in the range that filters at the right pace, so contaminants stay in the bed and clean water moves on.
It’s washed and clean, which matters here more than almost anywhere. Silt, clay, and organic fines are exactly what plug a filter bed and shorten the life of a field. Keeping those out is the whole point of using a proper septic sand instead of whatever fill is closest.
