Toe Stone XL Boulders run 4 to 6 ton each, the largest stone we sell. They go in at the base of a slope, embankment, or shoreline as the foundation course that everything above keys into, holding the toe against heavy water from rivers and stormwater. When the job needs mass to stay put under serious flow, this is the stone.

Why It Works
Mass is what holds the toe.
A slope fails from the bottom. Water undercuts the toe, the bank above slides toward it, and the whole face goes. Toe Stone XL Boulders solve that by putting 4 to 6 ton of stone where the cutting happens, set as the first course at the base so the slope above has something solid to rest on.
At this weight the individual stones don’t move. They don’t migrate, they don’t get rolled by current the way smaller riprap can, and once they’re keyed in they stay keyed in. That’s the entire point of toe stone: anchor the bottom, and the lighter armor and fill above it stays where you put it.
